1 -Austin Swan Jr. and Joseph Swan Sr. driving boats to tow a dead whale away.
here is a closer view of the whale where both young and old must come together to have the whale removed from townsite so the bears will not be attracted to it and come to town, thereby threatening the safety of the community. In the photo are Austin Swan Jr. driving the smaller boat with his passengers Leela J. Mitchell holding the rope which has both boats tied together for support. Joseph Swan Sr. is the elder driving his white boat and you can see the whale in the foreground. Byron Adams, Joseph's grandson, is in Austin's boat, there to help
